I speak about thoughtful home design, decision-making in renovation projects, and how to create homes that genuinely support everyday life.
My work focuses on helping homeowners move beyond surface-level design ideas, and instead make clear, confident decisions that lead to better outcomes, both practically and emotionally.
If your audience is thinking about improving their home, navigating a renovation, or trying to make sense of what they actually need (before committing to design), these are the conversations I enjoy contributing to most.

Topics I speak about
I'm particularly well suited to conversations around:
Do you really need an extension, or are you solving the wrong problem?
How to tell if you need more space, or a better way of using the space you already have.
Why your home might be holding you back (without you realising it)
How your environment affects your focus, energy, relationships and daily life.
Working from home isn't working. Here's why.
How to create a home workspace that supports productivity, wellbeing and clear boundaries
Why home projects waste money and how to avoid it
The common mistakes people make before design even begins, and how to make better decisions.
How to make confident decisions about your home (without overwhelm)
A simple way to move forward when you're unsure what to do next.

Hi, I'm Jane
|
I'm an award-winning chartered architect specialising in the thoughtful redesign of period homes, including properties in conservation areas.
I help homeowners create comfortable, characterful spaces that support modern living, while being sensitive to the original beauty of their home and improving energy performance. I design extensions, reconfigurations and conversions that transform how your home works and feels. |
How I work differently
Most people start a home project by jumping straight into design.
But without clarity, that is where costly mistakes are often made.
I take a different approach.
I help you develop a clear vision for your home first. This means understanding how you want to live, what matters most, and what is truly possible.
To guide this, I use my EAGLE method. A structured process I have developed to help homeowners create clarity before design, so decisions are easier, faster, and lead to better outcomes.
This is exactly what we do together inside the Design Your Home Vision Programme, where we focus on getting your project right before any design begins.
So every design decision that follows feels considered, confident, and right for you.

What it's like to work with me
I work collaboratively with you, guiding you through decisions and helping you explore options.
You are closely involved throughout the process. Not to design the solutions yourself, but to share what matters to you, how you want to live, and what feels right for your home.
I bring the design thinking, creative solutions and experience.
You bring your insight, priorities and lived experiences.
Together, we shape a home that reflects you.
The result is not just a well-designed space, but a home that feels truly yours:

- considered
- personal
- and a pleasure to live in
Experience you can rely on
Since starting my practice in 2009, I've redesigned well over 100 homes across the UK.
I am accredited on the RIBA Conservation Register and have completed specialist training in energy-efficiency retrofit. This means I understand how to improve comfort and performance in older homes, while being sensitive to their original character.
Before this, I worked as a senior architect within one of the largest international architecture practices, delivering complex projects in the £26-£32 million range.
I am used to handling significant budgets, balancing competing priorities, and making thoughtful decisions that protect both design quality and long-term value.
Today, I bring that same level of care and rigour to every home project, helping you feel confident in the decisions you make about your home and your own investment.

"Overall working with you was excellent! The best part was that you are so personal and creative. Your approach is so different from others in that you listened to my needs and created solutions based on them.
Before working with you, I had an architect come to my home. He didn't ask me one question about what I wanted. I was struggling with challenging my thinking about how my home could be renovated. Exploring what other options are regarding moving and also comparing cost of staying and cost of moving.
The Big Picture Plan helped me to decide what I am going to do, which is move. I was surprised by the amount of different options that could be a possibility of the renovations. For anyone on the fence about working with you I would say, Do it! Jane is a genius."

My Backstory |
I grew up in an eight-bedroom Victorian Villa in a conservation area. It was a beautiful home, full of character and potential, but it was also freezing cold in winter. So cold that the condensation on the inside of my bedroom windows would freeze overnight.
Although it looked magical, living in a cold uncomfortable home is not. That experience shaped how I think about period homes. I saw both their potential and their challenges, and it inspired me to help homeowners make them more comfortable, practical and enjoyable to live in, without losing what makes them special. My parents still live in that house, and over time I have helped them improve it. By upgrading the roof with proper insulation, reinstating original features, and introducing measures such as photovoltaics and new rooflights, we were able to make a real difference. The house is now warm, dry and far more comfortable. And while I sometimes miss the strange beauty of frozen condensation, I much prefer what it feels like to stay there now. |
I believe we can improve how our homes feel and perform, while still respecting their character and reducing their impact on the environment.
